Ginseng

Ginseng is one of the most valuable horticultural crops grown in Ontario. Pest management, particularly diseases, is the biggest challenge to successful ginseng production and one of the biggest costs of production. Identification of pest problems through regular scouting and proper identification of those problems is essential to minimize both damage to the crop and management costs. Pest prevention and cultural methods to reduce disease severity will further reduce costs to ginseng growers. There is a lot of misinformation in both the industry and the scientific literature on the causes of different symptoms on ginseng roots, and this resource is also aimed at providing the most up to date and reputable information on the causes of these symptoms.
